The Energy Transition cannot occur without the development of innovative energy storage solutions.

<\/strong>To continuously meet consumers’ energy needs, it is necessary to store surplus energy produced to respond to peak demands. To address this challenge, Amarenco has developed the “Claudia” project, a lithium-ion battery storage project located in Gironde (33). Amarenco’s Storage Business Line aims to develop large-scale stationary battery projects to provide frequency\/voltage support and energy capacity to the electricity transmission grid.

At the beginning of 2024, we inaugurated our first large-scale power plant, Claudia (105MW\/1H), the largest of its kind in the country. Building on this initial success, we intend to maintain our leadership with a substantial portfolio of energy storage projects.In this context, Amarenco, a pioneer in commitment and innovative energy solutions, won the tender for the supply of battery electricity storage for the period 2022-2028, aimed at securing the RTE network

The asset is the winner of a long-term tender called “AOLT” organized by RTE to secure the supply of the French electricity network during high consumption days from November to March.Furthermore, the installation provides frequency balancing services to RTE, thus limiting the risk of load shedding.The battery has been operational since April 9 with a one-hour capacity, and a shift to two hours is planned to offer more services to the French electricity networks by 2025.

This project is part of the PPE as a major pillar of the energy transition, facilitating the integration of renewable energies while reducing network congestion and the additional costs of network reinforcement that it may entail.

Claudia results from the expertise of an innovative developer in the field of renewable energies. Indeed, Amarenco is a value-added IPP as it is simultaneously engaged in soil regeneration and biodiversity restoration programs.
In summary, why Amarenco developed Claudia and is strongly committed to the development of storage solutions:

1 – Decarbonization:<\/strong>\u00a0CO2 emissions per kWh from battery storage plants (70 gCO2\/kWh) are much lower than those from gas (490 gCO2\/kWh) and coal (820 gCO2\/kWh) plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 – Rapid Deployment:<\/strong>\u00a0Approximately 4 years to develop and commission a 100MW installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 – Flexibility of Installation:<\/strong>\u00a0Can be installed near RTE substations, often located in rural areas with low environmental impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 – Low Land Consumption:<\/strong>\u00a0A 100MW\/200MWh project requires 2 hectares; national targets for 2030 could be achieved with only 120 hectares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 – Reversibility of Installations:<\/strong>\u00a0Possibility of returning the land to its natural state after exploitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 – Electricity Price Stability:<\/strong>\u00a0Reduces daily price fluctuations and decreases dependence on variable fossil fuel prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7 – Supply Security:<\/strong>\u00a0Avoids electricity imports and reduces dependence on fossil fuels while providing supply security for large industries through PPA agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
