Amarenco launches construction of Osmo

Amarenco launches construction of Osmo, a new 100 MW / 2-hour BESS project in France!
After Claudia, Osmo marks another major step in our commitment to energy storage and grid flexibility.

The energy transition is really about building the infrastructure needed to make the power system more stable, secure and resilient. Located between Os-Marsillon and Mourenx, in the Lacq industrial basin, Osmo is a 100 MW Lithium-Ion LFP battery energy storage project with a 2-hour capacity.

By investing for more than four years in these strategic infrastructures, Amarenco continues to anticipate the needs of the French electricity system and support RTE with essential services.

The project’s location was also a key choice. By developing on a former industrial site, close to existing infrastructure and with optimal grid connection conditions, Osmo helps limit the environmental footprint of the project while adding new value to an underused land area.

This project is supported by a strong ecosystem of industrial and local partners, and we are delighted to have finalized the financing of this project with our partner Société Générale and are now fully focused on launching its construction

With this closing, the Group confirms the acceleration of its energy storage project portfolio in France and across several European countries.

A huge thank you to our partners and internal teams for helping move forward this strategically important project!
