ESG GENERATION

With the vocation to reconcile economy and ecology, profitability and sustainability, Amarenco makes solar energy production work for nature. The group assesses the scope of its projects through its CSR policy, or ESG: Environment, Social, Governance.

>E for Environment:the very heart of Amarenco’s business. Every one of the group’s photovoltaic installation acts as a carbon sink. As well as helping reduce CO2 emissions, its projects are associated with programmes dedicated to soil
generation, restoring biodiversity and replanting resilient forests.

> S for Social: Amarenco promotes initiative because team spirit is essential. Its Team Starter platform is a great example of this; it is a forum where employees can share their own projects which are then financed by the group. It also supports charities that share its values and areas where its installations are established.

> G for Governance: Amarenco has developed a very open system of governance that cultivates discussion, understanding and collegiality in decision-making. Equality, diversity, accessibility and safety are the group’s primary concerns. It is also very mindful of the ethics of its relationships with all its stakeholders.

THE AMARENCO PLEDGE AND ITS ECHO PROGRAMMES

Amarenco systematically uses a share of its funds invested in the roll-out of its infrastructures in all countries where it has a presence to produce regenerative electricity, meaning electricity that is accompanied by the regeneration of local ecosystems.

The AMARENCO PLEDGE is the company’s commitment to allocate 2 million euros per GW of solar plant electricity to be invested in regeneration programmes, and 500,000 euros per GW of operational assets every year.

This engagement is the perfect illustration of Amarenco’s philosophy and its commitment to preserve the planet.

From 2022, the AMARENCO PLEDGE will become more concrete through ECHO programmes wherever the group has a current or future presence:
Regeneration programmes matching the scale of our projects: Amarenco is developing regeneration programmes adapted to every site, every climate and all soils where photovoltaic power plants and agrivoltaics are installed, to give the soils the capacity to absorb carbon emissions and stimulating biodiversity and water retention. The company is participating in the 4 per 1,000 initiative, launched at the same time as the Paris climate agreement in December 2015.
Furthermore, whenever the size and configuration of a site where the company is building a solar installation allows, Amarenco plants a micro-forest, edible forest or forest garden between 1,000 and 2,000 square metres, accessible to the public.
Regeneration programmes matching the scale of our territories: Amarenco is developing structured programmes encouraging the regeneration of ecosystems in all countries where the company invests significantly in its photovoltaic infrastructures.
These programmes are particularly focused on restoring heavily degraded land and forests to living soils, forest resilience and massive regenerative agriculture, agroforestry in particular.
All these programmes highlight Amarenco’s commitment to produce energy that is clean and contributes to environmental regeneration, a key point that sets us apart from traditional energy producers.

WHAT ARE THE COMPANY’S ENGAGEMENTS?

Given that each project must have purpose and meaning, including for in-house teams, Amarenco is continuously optimising well-being in the company. Equality is at the heart of our concerns

In a concerted effort to promote gender equality within its organisation and beyond, Amarenco is strengthening its commitment to gender parity. Recognising the challenges inherent in a traditionally male-dominated field, particularly in global leadership positions, Amarenco is working to change this. In 2023, Amarenco France reached a significant milestone by scoring 77 points on the Gender Equality Index, reflecting the progress made and ongoing efforts in gender equity. This result is the fruit of a strategic agreement with the Social and Economic Committee (CSE), aimed at improving the balanced distribution of women and men at all levels of the company and integrating measures to ensure equal treatment. The target set is ambitious: to reach 85% within three years, underlining Amarenco's determination to strengthen its position as an equitable and inclusive organisation.

Ethics that guarantee security

Heavily invested in protecting the environment and our future on this planet, Amarenco is also committed to its stakeholders, providing them with security guarantees. Its investors like its executive team believe ethics to be of the utmost importance. This is a key topic on the sensitive energy market, especially seeing as the group has received ISO 9001 and AQPV certifications (Alliance for PhotoVoltaic Quality).

Natural diversity

A value rooted in Amarenco’s DNA, it sees the diversity of its teams as a source of wealth and pride for the group. The group has 25 nationalities and just as many languages spoken amongst its 200-odd employees. Not forgetting other languages used inside the company: technical, financial, regulatory, legal, institutional... Add to that the diversity of cultures and profiles and it all contributes to generating ideas, creating connections and keeping an open mind to cultivate innovation.

Accessibility to develop together

Amarenco offers its employees many connections and crossovers to encourage internal or external mobility, facilitate career development and stimulate everyone’s fulfilment whether they are an extremely specialised technician or a new recruit. A farmer can take over the management of a business unit while an experienced project manager can have a go at agroforestry. In this way, the group multiplies the opportunities to move from one business to another, from one country to another...developing together.
